Williams, Arizona, is a small mountain town on Route 66 at the Grand Canyon junction.

Way Out West

Last day in Northern Arizona before hitting the road again.

Route 66 through the Mojave Desert

 

 "When you come to a fork in the road, take it." Yogi Berra  Highway Route 66 was the first U.S. transcontinental road that went from Chicago, Illinois to Los Angeles, California

 I met motorcyclists who rode Route 66 from as far away as Illinois and Houston, Texas.

 My family migrated from Nebraska to California on this road in 1947. I love the empty space.

I used the Camera+ app to edit these shots taken on my iPod while driving across the Mohave Desert.

The California Mohave Desert has some quirky people. There was the king of toilet seat arts-John Kostopoulos, and in Barstow, an outdoor museum of wrecked cars called "Vehicles from Hell."

The mining pit in the Mojave desert that produces borax. (I use it for laundry and cleaning.)
They plan to run out of boron within five years. Then, they hope to switch to another similar mineral.
